Located in the Chikmagalur growing district, Kerkeicoondah grows Arabica and award-winning premium Robusta, both of which are intercropped with pepper vines in a polyculture setup that is typical for Indian coffee estates. Yet another example of how to grow coffee in a way that is BOTH environmentally and economically sustainable.
One of the thing we love about this estate is their approach of continuous improvement. Even though they’ve always been a solid producer of S-795 variety beans, they’re still seeking new ways to improve both flavor and consistency.
In recent years, they’ve identified several promising special prep methods which they’ve scaled up to the benefit of the Plantation-A and -AB beans that we use for our larger lot offerings.
Jacob Mammen manages this farm. His family has grown coffee here for three generations. The Mammen family also owns Bettadakhan Estate.
FEATURED OFFERINGS:
Our primary offering from this farm is a larger lot of S-795 variety Plantation-AB (cupping notes: varied citrus (orange, lemon, sweet lime) w/ chocolate, caramel & berries). A versatile bean with a consumer-friendly flavor profile, we’ve seen roasters using this bean for both drip and cold brew.
We also have one microlot from the 2024 harvest:
[SOLD] Lot #147: Kerkeicoondah Estate S-795 Peaberry (8 bags): Kerkeicoondah typically supplies us with larger lots of S-795 variety beans. This small lot is also a S-795 but entirely Peaberries. Cupping Notes: varied citrus w/ chocolate & caramel.
HOW TO BUY: Call (650-366-5453) or email. Review our Purchasing Green Coffee FAQs to learn how we handle green coffee transactions.
*For the microlots, we give first priority to roasters that already buy our coffees. Roasters that have never purchased from us (or last purchased a few years back) should consider the larger lot offering.
